WordPress 1.5

I’ve finally upgraded this site to the 1.5 branch of WordPress. It’s only been what, three months or so since it was first released?

For the time being I’ve hacked the previous layout into a format the new version can understand, but don’t be surprised if the design changes in the near future. Maybe replaced with something less monochromatic?

And since no one likes reading meta posts, I’ll leave it at that.

  1. It seems that the list of WordPress themes insists on being massively unhelpful. Themes are by their very nature intensely visual things, but all you’re presented with there is a list the names of each theme. If you’re lucky, you might even get a short unhelpful description of the theme.

Call me crazy, but I don’t really feel like clicking a hundred different links to try to see what all these themes are supposed to look like.

So I guess I’ll have to figure out how to adapt my layout into the new theme engine so it’s not all based on a dirty hack.

  2. Of course I remember that conversation, Paul.

And also remember that sometimes, on the internet, less is more. Google rocks my world.

…what’s so great about WordPress, anyway?

  3. WordPress is far less annoying than MovableType was back when I was using it as my blog engine. The differences aren’t as noticeable from the visitor’s perspective, but on the admin side it’s quite a bit easier to do what I want to do with it.
